I was syncing only a 1/4 of the total contacts I have with Google on my Pre.  This only happened after I received a warranty replacement Pre.  I called Assurion tech support who was familiar with the problem and sent me out a new, non reconditioned, Pre.  Just got and it works fine.  Might be hardware related.  This one drove me nuts!

We have addressed this issue with webOS 1.4.0 please respond to this thread if you are still experiencing issues.

I am having problems with Contacts added to my phone not showing up in GMail.

I add a Contact to my Palm Pre, and I think I should see it show up eventually in my Google Contacts in GMail under All Contacts at least, but it doesn't even if I manually hit Sync Now.

It is missing contacts I added both before and after the 1.4 update.

I have 246 contacts in My Contacts and in All Contacts, so these are identical.

In WebOS Contacts | Preferences & Accounts I clicked on Google and it said 253 Contacts (that's 7 more than I have in GMail).  I clicked Sync Now and it did not change.  I entered my password and clicked Sign In and it changed to 256 Contacts (now that's 10 more than I have in GMail).

No matter what I do I am not getting contacts I add on the phone up to GMail.

If I can't figure this out then a lot of people must be confused.

Any suggestions, ideas, or tips would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE:

I went to do an export of my GMail contacts, but first I needed to get all of the new contacts I added to my Pre that were not showing up on the web.  (Note that I did every manual sync possible, and contacts I added in my Pre a long time ago were still not showing up on the web.)

I manually went through all GMail Contacts in my Pre and compared them to all GMail on the web and hand entered all of those that were missing on the web (what a pain).

Then I went to the web to do the export, and before I did I clicked Find Duplicates, and all the ones I had just entered were now in there twice!!  They weren't in there a few minutes ago because that's how I found all the differences.

So I guess it's working again, and I don't know what fixed it, but I do not have any confidence in it and will constantly be keeping a close eye on it!

I am still having problems with syncing my Pre to my Google contacts.  I have exported and sync'd, deleted, re-entered accounts, etc. 

I must be missing something small here.  I have attempted to create the gmail account for contacts.  it seemed to work but then I would enter a new contact (no symbols...just name and number) on the pre and it will not make it to google contacts...anywhere.  So I enter a different contact (name and number) on google contacts...same thing...nothing shows up on the pre.

I tried to set it up like an exchange account with google.  I tried to set it up simply with a gmail account.  Any thought?  I updated the OS three days ago but I've only had this pre for a few weeks.  I originally used pocket mirror which worked but included too many steps.  I want this thing to sync OTA...one entry...behind the scenes syncing.  Ideas?

I recently had to switch out my Pre for a new one and I could not get all my contacts to sync from Google Contacts.  I have over 4,000 contacts (clients, business associates, colleagues etc....).  It was driving me nuts.  I did some research online and some people were saying that one of the added features in one of the updated ROMs was Google Talk and that it was buggy.  I've never added this account but when I went to the IM app, I noticed that my Google contacts account was there.  Probably added automatically when I added the Google Contacts account.  Anyways....I deleted my gmail account from both the contacts app and the IM app (which takes forever as the contacts are deleted one-by-one in the background).  Once my Pre was completely wiped of all Google Contacts, I then re-added my Google Contacts account in the Contacts App which automatically started the sync process.  It also added Google Talk to the IM app.  I launched the IM app and immediately deleted the Google Talk account in the IM app.  After about 2.5 hours, syncing on the home WiFi network, all of my Google Contacts were in my Pre.

Whatever the problem is, it has something to do with Google Talk interfering with the sync process.

 1.3.1 is making my phone really wacky and unstable too. the answer not working for me. Help in need in deed.

If I were to say that I LOVE and ADORe you guys... would that be going overboard? I have been in the dulldrums over this issue, and although it took a great deal of time and effort to cull through all of my contacts and weed out the bad data.. VOILA! it's all BACK!!!! Just like you said!!!! YOU are the best group EVER!!!! HUZZAH!!!! THANK YOU
