Google contacts won't completely sync post 1.3.1 update

I had to do a partial reset of my device because 1.3.1 was making my phone really wonky and unstable. Now when I try to compose emails, contacts in my google account aren't showing up on my pre. Some are, but a lot are missing. If I go to my gmail contacts, they are there, but there are not on my phone. Doing a manual sync doesn't help, nor does removing the account, restarting the device and re-adding the account.

Anybody have this issue or know what's going on? Is 1.3.1 to blame?

1.3.1 now syncs with "My Contacts" versus "All Contacts"

Verify that the missing contacts are indeed in my contacts.

That is indeed the problem. Thanks! Was that documented in the release notes?

I also noticed that my tasks and memos did not come through. Is this to be expected as well? If I had copied the entire contents to my hard drive in usb drive mode, is there a way to retrieve this data?

Are you saying you lost tasks and memos that you had eneterd on your phone when you did a partial reset?  Or were you expecting those to sync from Google (which as far as I know, they do not, unless that was new to 1.3.1)?  If the former, did you have regular backup enabled?  If so, they should have come back when your profile was restored. after the partial reset.  If they didn't, they are probably gone.  While I can't say with 100% certainty, I don't believe that data is stored in the partition that gets mounted in USB mode -- I bet they go in /var.  I just poked around in terminal and didn't find anything that looked like them (of course, I have no tasks, as I use Toodledo, so that probably explains why I didn't see those).

Yes, I was referring to the former: tasks and memos saved onto my device through webOS.

This "backup" that Palm speaks of seems to be having a lot of problems with restoring data from 1.3.1 updates. Thanks for looking into this!

I am having the same issue!!  And yes, the contacts are listed in "My Contacts" only about half of "My Contacts" are syncing.

I am having the same problem as well. (I have confirmed all my contacts are listed in "My Contacts").  Some contacts will not update, some will update info but not show the pictures and others simply do no show up at all!

Additional Info: I believe all the missing & non-updating contacts were added via Google Contacts between the time 1.3.5.1 came out (my phone auto updated then) and when I had to erase and restore my Pre (a couple days ago). So the problem seems to be getting GC & the Pre to recognize changes made during that time.

UPDATE:  I tried making an export of the missing/non-updating contacts (from Google Contacts) and then deleting them from GC & the Pre (for the contacts that were on the Pre but won't update). I sync'd the Pre with GC and then re-imported the contacts into GC and then did another sync.  No joy.  Again, some of the contacts will import but the pictures are missing, some will not update. and others will not import to the Pre at all.

P.S.  Anyone know what palmdts@com.palmdts.com is?  This account is now showing up as a contact account but I didn't add it and I can't remove it.  It has no contacts and I don't know what it's for...?

After hours of trial and error, I finally got all of my contacts sync'd from Gmail into my Palm Pre. Here is what I did:

1) In Gmail Contacts, select all the contacts that you want sync'd to your phone (I just used "select: All")

2) Remove the contacts from the "My Contacts" group

3) Log out of Gmail (not sure if this is necessary)

4) On the Pre, resync the account. This will remove all of the contacts from the phone.

5) Log back into Gmail and select the contacts you want sync'd and add them back into the group "My Contacts"

6) Go back to the Pre and resync the account.

Re: Google contacts won't completely sync post 1.3.1 update

I tried this and it doesn't work for me.  Only 33 of 67 contacts will sync between Google contacts and my Pre and none of the sync'd contacts have their pictures anymore (previously all my contacts would sync along with their pictures).

I have tried every combination of deleting accounts, erasing the phone and resetting I can think of and nothing works.

Can anyone tell me what happens if I turn off backups (thus deleting my backup file) and then erase my phone (i.e. erase my phone without a backup file).  Will I lose all the applications I bought?  If so can I recover them?
