Unsafe app?

An app named Card Ace: Casino which I downloaded from the HP App site, locked up my touchpad today when I  tried to start it while off line.  I was in a parking lot waiting and wanted to kill some time.  My touchpad locked up, the clock stopped, the flash screen for the game was on the screen.  I couldn't turn the touchpad off and reboot it until I got home a couple of hours later.  After reading the owners book stored on my computer, I got the touchpad up and running again.  I deleted Card Ace and another game from the same provider.  Would this be similar to a virus attack or was it just a glitch?  I won't reinstall the app until I hear from this group.  Thanks in advance!

Re: Unsafe app?

I can't speak to that game because I don't have it. But apps from the App Catalog are tested and approved. Not to say the app didn't cause the issue, but I wouldn't fear it...just try it again.

Re: Unsafe app?

I do have this game. It's a popular and common titles on a number of mobile platforms. It is however a memory hungry game. Your experience was a glitch and you have little to fear in having it installed. I have had it occasionally crash, can't remember if it ever locked up the touchpad, but it's not a virus or attack program. Computer occasionally crash and/or lock up and tablets are no exception.

Re: Unsafe app?

Am glad you posted, just got a Touchpad and have had exactly the same issue on my way to work, and is the first time I've left the house with it lol! I know it's prob a case of rtfm, but I don't suppose you'd be able to advise how you it it back working again? Is completely frozen on the app launch screen, even the time as stopped as you described... Thanks very much!

Re: Unsafe app?

To force a reboot on a TouchPad, press and hold both the power switch and the center button for about 15 - 20 seconds until you see the HP logo.  Release the buttons and it will reboot.

Re: Unsafe app?

That's what I did, I forced a reboot and it took a few minutes and I was up and running again.  I deleted and reinstalled the app again and it froze up my touchpad again.  I then deleted both apps from the same author and won't use them again.  Slippery
