webOS and Lotus Notes

i have just been able to setup my work Lotus Notes account on my Palm Pre running webos 1.4.5 and its working flawlessly. I was able to do this using the Traveler feature in Notes, i guess the Domino whatever setup my company uses.  To accomplish this I had to be added to one of our Traveler servers, which from the looks of things is Exchange, which give me the idea to use EAS(Exchange) option on my Touchpad originally, which actually worked the first time for syncing emails and contacts(look ups worked too) but after the initial inbox sync, wasnt getting anymore incoming messages on the touchpad, though i could send out, so i figured i try it out on my phone and glad i did.

Exchange (EAS) Setup

1. Make sure you are setup on your company's traveler server, and verify you can login into the server from a web browser

2. Go to Email>Preferences(drop down menu)>Add an account>Email Menu(drop down menu)>Manual Setup>Mail Type=Exchange (EAS)

3. Fill in, Email Address, URL for the Traveler Server "travler.companydomain.com/servlet/travler" is my setup, Username, Password....domain wasnt necessary for my setup.

4. Tap Sign In

will take a bit to sync, but it works great on my Sprint Pre 1.4.5 , and it works partially on the Touchpad, everything works(outgoing messages, global address book lookup, calendar) except the incoming messages on the Touchpad.

Re: webOS and Lotus Notes

Hi,

I added it too on my PalmPre2 (2.1.0) two months ago, using the same procedure, except that on my company's lotus notes system, the server is:

"My.companydomain.com/servlet/traveler/Microsoft-ActiveSync-Server"

I guess it may depend of the implementation done by our own company IT guys.

However on mine, the mail outputs but also comes in. Calendar is working too.

But I have the following limitations, and I wonder if after some time you get the same?

Mail:

I limited the sync with the server to a maximum of 1 or 3 days, and I have about 30 to 50 mails per day, some short ones and some others with attachments as people now do not think anymore to size of mail, some may attach 20MB to each message. Anyhow ...

-Sometimes, the mail cannot be displayed; in the index, I can see the first line of the mail, but when retrieving the message, even on short ones, PalmPre2 says: "Retrieving Mail" for some time, say, 30sec, then ===> "oops, cannot retrieve the mail, Retry?"

It is not the PalmPre2 itself, as I tried it on the SDK of a PalmPre2 and recently on the HP TouchPad SDK, I have the same problem.

But the problem is merely inside the Palm Webos, as when opening the same mail from my original MS Lotus notes, it is fine, and I also linked Traveler with my wife's android 2.3, and there it opens fine.

Calendar:

Calendar also displays fine, but not more than exactly 14 days back in time. So if we are wednesday 15th, events in Tuesday 1st or before do not show up on the Palm. Only recurring events do.

Contacts Lookup:

Works fine too. I am not syncing the contacts/adresses.

Lagging:

However, the whole system is **bleep** SLOW when opening either the mail or agenda. I guess the database gets either too big or not cleaned or whatever.

In the agenda, going to previous or next week may take 5 seconds before getting the display.

After a full reset of the Luna device, it gets better, but after some time, opening the mail takes even 5 seconds, but selecting even a single mail opens after 15 or even 30 seconds, and content of mail doesnot arrive immediately.

This is really a pity as it is almost unusable.

It got worse and worse, as on the very first days, it worked fine.

Again it is due to the Hardware, as if selecting the same mail on the TouchPad emulator, it is better than the PalmPre2 itself.

I just wonder if you experience the same, or from other users.

Have a nice day

Jame
